In November 2015, a Florida Circuit Court judge ruled against most of Trump's arguments, dismissing four of the six claims and allowing the others to proceed. Trump dropped the lawsuit after winning the presidency, as the estate would likely have a no-fly zone imposed by the FAA. In January 2017, Palm Beach exempted Mar-a-Lago from a ban on landing helicopters on residential properties while Trump was president, including his own fleet and Marine One. When President Trump was in residence as president, the Palm Beach region became a zone of temporary flight restrictions affecting flights and air operations severely within a 30 nautical mile (55.56 km) radius. Coast Guard and Secret Service secured the two waterway approaches, ocean and lake, and Secret Service cordoned off streets to Mar-a-Lago during the president's visits. The Coast Guard also attached an elite Maritime Safety and Security Team with unique capabilities that specialized in maritime security.
They've joined a long list of Trump family members to move to the Sunshine State in the wake of Donald Trump's election loss to Biden in November. There is no information on whether the property has since sold, but it is still on the Trump Organization's website and Forbes estimated it to be worth $13 million in October 2019. In 2018, it was revealed that Trump staffers received member discounts (of up to 70%) at the club's pro shop—reportedly Ivanka's idea—alarming the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics, a government ethics watchdog in D.C. However, the city council rejected the proposal, and the estate was turned into a members-only club. However, Trump visited more than 30 times during his tenure in the White House, breaking his rule with more than 130 nights worth of stays. After her death, the estate was ultimately given to the Marjorie Merriweather Post Foundation by the federal government.

And judging by all the trips he's taken to them as president—costing taxpayers millions in the process—he clearly prefers his own places to a government-issued one. Surely, such wealth is enough for spending summers at lavish properties and for access to five-star experiences and treatments all over the world. At the very least, it was enough for the couple to purchase a $3.2 million mansion with five bedrooms and seven bathrooms, according to the Miami Herald. Eric and Lara aren't far from family, either; their new home is near to Donald Jr.'s. The estate operates as a resort and hotel for the members and rents out venues for private events.

Elsewhere in the state, Trump owns two homes in Sterling, Virginia (close to the Trump National Washington D.C. golf club) that are worth $1.5 million. Bedford is about 45 miles north of New York City, and the Trump family seems to use the 50,000-square-foot house, built in 1919 by former Federal Reserve Chairman and Washington Post publisher Eugene Meyer , as a weekend and summer getaway. Trump reportedly, and perhaps unwittingly, allowed the late Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi to stay in a tent there during the United Nations General Assembly meeting in 2009 when no hotels would allow Gaddafi as a guest. Nestled on an island off the coast of Palm Beach, Florida, the massive property features direct views of the Atlantic Ocean and is open to people who purchase a membership at the club.
Donald Trump's house (Mar-A-Lago)
Trump lived with his family in Jamaica Estates, an affluent suburban neighborhood in Queens, New York. The house, a six-bedroom neo-Tudor, was built in 1940 by his father Fred Trump. In 1950, the family moved into a 23-room mansion Fred Trump built on two adjoining lots on Midland Parkway, directly behind the backyard of the house on Wareham Place. Trump's parents lived in the house for the rest of their lives. Trump originally planned to build a golf course on the property, but was opposed by the governments of the three municipalities the property lies within, and he wanted to avoid competing with his existing course nearby in Briarcliff Manor.

In 2017, the place was designated as Trump's third presidential residence. He also has more friends down there, as opposed to, say, in Manhattan, where Trump—a lifelong New Yorker—is extremely unpopular. In fact, in September 2019, he and the First Lady changed their primary residence from Manhattan to Palm Beach, where, presumably, he could pay lower taxes—and feel more welcome. On May 11, 2022, the Justice Department sent Trump a grand jury subpoena, requesting any additional documents marked classified.
Use as a Trump residence
Others attending the dinner included Vice President Mike Pence, Ivanka Trump, and Jared Kushner. In November 2018, President Trump returned to Mar-a-Lago for Thanksgiving. One month later, President Trump canceled his planned Christmas vacation in Mar-a-Lago following the federal government shutdown. In November 2019, he returned to Mar-a-Lago for Thanksgiving, and a month later returned for Christmas. President Trump's fifth presidential visit took place on March 17–18.

The 2.5-acre ranch includes a seasonal stream, mature oaks, and a four-bedroom home with many updates throughout. The charming four-bedroom residence has hardwood floors throughout, a gas fireplace, high ceilings with crown molding, plus a bonus office space with a full bathroom. The oceanfront home right across the street from Mar-a-Lago was purchased in 2004 by the former president’s sister, Maryanne Trump Barry, for $11.5 million.

Le Château des Palmiers, which Trump bought in 2013 and has used primarily as a rental property, includes nine bedrooms and 12 full bathrooms. There are two villas, in addition to pool cabanas and an estate manager's house, on the five-acre estate. While the main house of the Bedminster, New Jersey, property is a private club open to members (at a reported cost of $350,000), the Trump family owns cottages on the property. Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner got married there in 2009, and they won an application to expand their cottage by 2,200 square feet in 2015. Trump, 74, purchased the mansion in 1985 for a mere $10 million before transforming it into a golf club.

He has fought the town of Palm Beach over the size of its American flag. The original, installed in 2006, was on an 80-foot pole though Palm Beach ordinances forbid flag poles to be higher than 42 feet; a violation carries a daily fine of $250. Architects Marion Sims Wyeth and Joseph Urban designed the estate, which sits on 20 acres that border the Atlantic Ocean on one side and Florida's Intracoastal Waterway on the other. (Wyeth also designed the Florida governor's mansion in Tallahassee). Below, a history of the property last updated during the Trump presidency. In December 2020, neighbors of Mar-a-Lago delivered a demand letter to the town of Palm Beach, stating that the town should notify Trump that he cannot use the estate as his residence.
Rental prices reportedly start at $6,000 per night in the low season for the smaller of the two villas and go up to $28,000 during the winter holiday season. From Palm Beach's Mar-a-Lago to Seven Springs in Bedford, New York, here are all of the president's own properties. Trump was also required to ensure more than half of the club's members live or work in Palm Beach and that there were no more than 500 members. Part of the deal forbids any of the club members from spending more than 21 days a year in the club's guest suites or staying there longer than seven consecutive days.

Alternatively, perhaps the sale has more to do with the lender, which said it would no longer do business with the family. "Breathtaking preserve & golf views surround this luxurious, completely renovated, private estate home located on the largest lot in the exclusive gated community of Trump National Golf Club," a listing for the property read. Designed by architect Marion Sims Wyeth, the 11,000 square foot house has 58 bedrooms and 33 bathrooms. Inspired by European palaces, the original interior was designed by Viennese theatre designer Joseph Urban. When cereal heiress Marjorie Merriweather Post built the 17 acre estate Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida in 1924, she envisioned the property as a future retreat for U.S. presidents.
